Top 10 Markets Dominated by Million-Dollar Homes & LA Isn’t One of Them

Years ago, $1 million was considered a large sum of money. Today, depending on the market, a buyer may purchase a mansion or a starter home for this amount. It is always fun to uncover neighborhoods with the most $1 million-plus homes.

1. Vineyard Haven, MA

Near Martha’s Vineyard, the area is filled with sun and sand. Although it has few homes for sale, half are priced over $1 million.

2. Summit Park, UT

Summit Park is a mecca for skiers and is one of America’s wealthiest towns. Recently, more than 600 homes were on the market for over $1 million.

3. Santa Maria/Santa Barbara, CA

In the heart of wine country, nearly half of the listings exceed $1 million. On an extreme level, nine of these homes are going for more than $30 million.

With the median home price of $724,000, this is one of the wealthiest spots in California. Last month, Napa had approximately 200 listings over $1 million.

This town offers nearly 500 homes over $1 million. As ski season approaches, these prices are expected to rise.

Although Salinas is a farm town, homes provide scenic mountain views. Approximately 40 percent of these overlooks are listed at over $1 million.

7. San Jose/Sunnyvale/Santa Clara, CA

Thanks to the success of Silicon Valley, this area’s housing market is filled with well-to-do buyers. Almost 40 percent of listed homes have prices over $1 million.

8. Edwards, CO

Edwards attracts skiers and wealthy homeowners. Last month, over 40 percent of listings topped $1 million.

9. Jackson, WY

Jackson is home to many American billionaires and offers numerous multi-million dollar ranches.

10. Santa Cruz/Watsonville, CA

Surfers flocking to this area are creating a hub of real estate development. Last month, nearly 200 houses had list prices over $1 million.
