The Old Town Music Hall in El Segundo is one of the most charming local landmarks in the South Bay. Just north of Manhattan Beach, it has been a non-profit organization promoting solent and classic films and local artists for the past 46 years; before that it was the El Segundo State Theater until two locals, Bill Coffman and Bill Field, installed the Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ and reopened for business as a non-profit.
The charming, old-fashioned entertainment is truly one-of-a-kind in the Los Angeles area, and the theater is certainly priceless to local residents. Even the popular theater needs funding, so they are hosting a charity fundraiser in a few days on Sunday, February 23rd and famous organ player Tony Wilson will be there to entertain audiences on the Wurlitzer. The organ music really adds to the experience of watching a silent film; silent film wereintended to be enjoyed with live accompaniment. On Sunday, the music will be 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s, as well as pop songs and Broadway tunes and there will be a silent screening comedy short film from the 1920s. All the proceeds from the show go directly to preserving and maintaining The Old Town Music Hall
