Congratulations to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation for hiring Farnaz Flechner as their new executive director!
In case you don’t know, the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises $5 million each year for Manhattan Beach schools. Their funding helps keep classroom sizes small, hire librarians, science and reading enrichment programs, music teachers, and guidance and career counselors. This is the main reason that Manhattan Beach enjoys some of the best public schools in Southern California, and just one of the major draws for families and parents that want their children to have the best education possible.
Schools that benefit from the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation include Grandview Elementary, Pennekamp Elementary, Meadows Elementary, Robinson Elementary, Pacific Elementary, Manhattan Beach Middle School, and Mira Costa High School. You can see the breakdown of where and how the money is spent right here. Some highlights include over $300,000 going to science programs and over $1 million for more teachers to keep class sizes small.
