Did you know that the South Bay and the Beach Cities have some of the best surfing in the world? Cities like Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Palos Verdes have some of the most pristine shorelines and best waves for hanging ten in Southern California.
Hermosa Beach near the Hermosa Pier is known for having fairly consistent excellent surfing conditions. Waves in summer are the best, and especially at mid-tide when the tide is rising. Lunada Bay in the Palos Verdes Peninsula has actually been fought over by locals and visitors because of how pristine and beautiful the beaches are. Earlier this month, life-long surfing champions were given memorials in Hermosa Beach on the The Surfer’s Walk of Fame. It’s not hard to see why surfing is such an integral part of life down here in the South Bay: the beach is just so beautiful that residents can’t resist making it a part of their daily lives.
